Lifted from Monuments Series

I studied a bit with a Tao master at one point in my life. He told me of a custom in his country to make "monuments" at least twice a year. a monument is an item or a work of art or performance..something you create with the understanding that it is a monument to the creator/God/Deity..whatever your concept of the Divine is. Even if it is just a paper bird, the act of creating it from start to finish to celebrate and glorify the divine is what makes it special.

Tired bird,
exhausted,
bows
to the inevitable,
plunge.
Weary,
of struggle,
surrenders,
to the dark
below.
Only,
to have the
downdraft,
lift her,
to even greater
heights,
than she
would ever,
have
soared toward,
on her own.
